Hemi Metals , Midaland, New Zealand is a reputed supplier of available stainless steel products such as Stainless Steel 317L Round Bars and Rods, characterized by extreme corrosive resistance under aggressive acidic, alkaline, and chloride-containing environments. The 317L material being of low carbon makes it a version of 317 thus, it has improved resistance to sensitization and weld decay and applications at high temperatures and heavy stresses. This round bar and rod forms are widely used in chemicals processing, marine, food, and pharmaceuticals. We assure the reliability and durability of these products against the different industrial backgrounds under best industry standards.
Stainless Steel 317L Round Bars and Rods are high-performance austenitic stainless steel products providing exceptional potential for corrosion resistance and high strength in demanding environments. The “L” grade indicates the low carbon content which reduces the risk of sensitization and weld decay. Composition of stainless steel 317L approximately includes 18-20% chromium, 3-4% molybdenum, and 3-4% nickel along with traces of manganese, silicon, and phosphorus involved. The additional presence of some proportion of molybdenum provides enhanced pitting and crevice resistance, particularly in chloride and sulfuric acid. These round bars and rods are ideally used in chemical processing, marine, and high-temperature industries.

Stainless Steel 317L Round Bars and Rods are generally resistant to galvanic corrosion, but they can be susceptible when in direct contact with more anodic metals in corrosive environments. Proper insulation is recommended.
Yes, Stainless Steel 317L Round Bars and Rods can be welded easily. The low carbon content of 317L reduces the risk of carbide precipitation, ensuring excellent weldability and corrosion resistance.
Yes, Stainless Steel 317L Round Bars and Rods can be used for underground applications. Their excellent corrosion resistance to chemicals, moisture, and aggressive environments makes them suitable for underground infrastructure and pipelines.
Round bars and rods of stainless steel 317L are used extensively in industries where extremely high corrosion-resistant strength is a requirement. These rods are in demand even in chemical processing facilities, primarily where equipment corroded by harsh acids and alkalis exists. The applications extend to the marine where serrated bars and rods form part of the installations because of their resistance to corrosion in sea waters. There are other applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries, as well as in the pulp and paper industries, that call for parts with maximum durability against high temperature, stress, and corrosion. Heat exchangers and reactor vessels, pressure vessels, etc., are a few more applications of stainless steel 317L in which durability can be relied on under severe performance conditions.
