Stainless Steel 431 square bars and rods are made from a martensitic stainless steel alloy containing between 15 and 17% Cr, 2.50-1.25% Ni, and up to 0.20% C. Strength, hardness, and high corrosion resistance, especially in marine environments, are featured. The mechanical properties of Stainless Steel 431 encompass tensile strengths up to a maximum of 620 MPa, good toughness in impact testing, and some resistance to scaling and oxidation, especially at temperatures. Its advantage includes excellent machinability, the ease of the heat treatment procedure, high strength-to-weight ratios, corrosion resistivity, and suitability for aggressive applications in fields such as aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing.
