What is Tool and Die Steel S7 Bars?

The S7 Tool and Die Steel Bars are high-carbon, high-chromium alloys made to exhibit superior toughness and wear resistance. Typical composition consists of Carbon: 0.45–0.55%, Chromium: 5.25–6.25%, Manganese: 0.60–0.90%, Silicon: 0.60–1.00%, Vanadium: 1.00–1.50%, and trace amounts of Molybdenum: 0.30–0.50%. All these elements help steel show good strength, impact resistance, and the capacity to work under elevated temperatures. S7 bars offer hardness in the 45–55 HRC range and have outstanding toughness, providing very good resistance to fatigue; as such, S7 bars can be applied as tooling or die-casting.
